There are many ways to be a successful trainer. The purpose of this course is for participants to gain greater self awareness, so that they can make full use of their personality strengths and styles in all phases of the training process. Participants will become aware of differences in personality and potential personality pitfalls. Approaches and strategies to effectively teach a wide range of trainees will be discussed. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator will be utilized to accomplish this goal. Participants will also observe their inner dialogs and thinking styles, in order to increase their ability to deal with situations that arise in training groups.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
- Identify their personality preferences and psychological type as indicated by the MBTI - Describe differences in personality preferences and how they impact the trainer, trainee, and training process - Specify how personality type impacts the various functions of training and instruction, such as writing learning objectives, designing training activities, and facilitating training groups - Identify the style of their inner dialogs and the effect that style may have on delivering workshops Addresses NAWDP CWDP competency: Interpersonal Relations and Communication
